Raise limit on infant class sizes in primary schools

The article was about the need to increase the limit of infant class size.
In 1998 was legislated that the limit of infant class size was 30 pupils, but government digits shows that in 2015 more than 450.000 primary pupils will need places in England.
All this because after a councilor states that his local authority had spend £274,000 just to hire extra teachers so they can keep their classes below the legal threshold.
The Idea is to increase the 30 number to 32. Liberal Democrat councilor Simon Shaw said : "Surely a common-sense solution is to change the law so that schools have the flexibility to go up to 32 children in an infant class, if they wish, but only so long as they have a qualified, full-time teaching assistant as well as a teacher."
A spokeswoman of education department said that the government wasn’t thinking to increase the pupils because parents wouldn’t want their children been taught in a huge class.
However A spokesman for Sefton council – the Sefton council on Merseyside has spend extra money hiring extra teacher for just eight extra pupils in the past two years- said: “The rules relating to infant class sizes are part of national legislation and affect schools in all local authority areas."

  1. I like the article but in my opinion is best when there are fewer children in classroom because the teacher can focus and teach to the kids better.
    Kisses. See ya!
